The meaning of catch up, here.

Hi.

Let's go for a coffee - I need to catch up on all the gossip.

What other words can we use instead of 'catch up' with the closest meaning? Does the following sentence convey the same meaning as the above?

Let's go for a coffee- I need to talk about all the gossip.
