I'd like to ask a question regarding the underlined sentence. To me, it is difficult to precisely understand this passage. So I paraphrased it as follows:
What Wilson's book illustrates to us is it is severely difficult to separate out the effects of environment and the personal and social class prejudices of the researcher.
Do you think my sentence makes sense?
