The maps illustrate how the town of Lakeside changed in the early years of the 21st century
Overall, this town underwent some significant transforms due to the redevelopment and the addition of infrastructures.
On the left-hand side of the river, the residential area and the arts centre nearby were destroyed and replaced by the shopping centre and the new multi-screen cinema respectively. In addition, a small car park was erected on the original site of the Derelict warehouses and the old town next to this warehouses was also knocked down to make room for triangular area of the offices and a new university. Meanwhile, the schools and the residential area in the northwest corner stayed unchanged.
In the opposite side, about half of the woodland area was cut down and residential area in the north of Lakeside was also demolished to make way for the huge extension of industrial complex. At the same period, the lake at the beginning of the river was also narrowed into the small pond.
