I have also found it troubling to find a clear meaning for "Man of Destiny". The term arises in "The last American" a portrayal of Eustace Conway. Eustace was prodded continuously by his Mother to become "A Man of Destiny". I have taken its meaning as: Following the course life has laid before you and achieving your particular purpose, regardless of what outside forces request of you.
