Is this contruction natural? My doubt is if it will sound like the man was lying on the ground before but now he's also clutching leg (maybe there was another man, who were standing) - and not as I intend that she looks back to see the man, who is now lying on the ground clutching his leg.
It's OK as is, but it would be clearer if you had established that the man was somewhere in the scene (and not lying on the ground) before you got to the part about the speeding car. CJ
