The man denies stealing the bag yesterday
Hello, everyone.
Would you take a look at the two below sentences?
(1) The man denies stealing the bag yesterday.
(2) The man denies having stolen the bag yesterday.
I know #2 is right, but don't know whether #2 is acceptable or not. I think that without 'yesterday', 'The man denies stealing the bag.' is seen by me many times, so I assume #2 also seems to be possible to me. Would you teach me?
