The line graph shows the rate of urbanisation in two countries which are South Korea and Indonesia, between the mid-1960s and 2009. In the mid-1960s, Indonesia's urban rate was about 18%, which then increased to 20% in 1969. After that, the rate levelled off at around 20% for a period of ten years from 1969 to 1979. From 1979 to 1995, the rate of urbanisation increased gradually. Throughout the next fifteen years, there was a sharp rise in the rate of urbanisation in Indonesia, peaking at 50% in 2009. The rate of urbanisation in South Korea was about 30% in 1969, roughly 10% higher than that of Indonesia. During the next thirty years, the rate went up sharply to about 82% in 2005 and then remained stable towards 2009. In conclusion, it can be seen clearly that both countries underwent a growth in their urbanisation rate. However, in South Korea it almost doubled by the end of the period.
