The letter is writing & the letter is written

Hello again, dear proffesional Teachers Emotion: smile
Could you explain me with two words the difference between

1) The letter is writing
2) The letter is written

In the first example, the letter is writing now (at the momen)
In the second example, the action completed?

Am I right or I not?
