0 I am having trouble analysing this poem by Australian Poe, Henry Kendall. I'm pretty sure he is writing in the the eyes of an indigenous Australian. I am finding it hard to find the meaning of the poem( techniques, subject matter, tone, themes and stuff like that), and the image of Australia that the poet is trying to portray in it. 02br 02br 00 The Last of HIs Tribe-Henry Kendall02br 02br 01b00H00E02b00 crouches, and buries his face on his knees,02br 00 And hides in the dark of his hair;02br 00 For he cannot look up to the storm-smitten trees,02br 00 Or think of the loneliness there—02br 00 Of the loss and the loneliness there. 02br 00 The wallaroos grope through the tufts of the grass,02br 00 And turn to their coverts for fear;02br 00 But he sits in the ashes and lets them pass02br 00 Where the boomerangs sleep with the spear—02br 00 With the nullah, the sling and the spear. 02br 00 Uloola, behold him! The thunder that breaks02br 00 On the tops of the rocks with the rain,02br 00 And the wind which drives up with the salt of the lakes,02br 00 Have made him a hunter again—02br 00 A hunter and fisher again. 02br 00 For his eyes have been full with a smouldering thought;02br 00 But he dreams of the hunts of yore,02br 00 And of foes that he sought, and of fights that he fought02br 00 With those who will battle no more—02br 00 Who will go to the battle no more. 02br 00 It is well that the water which tumbles and fills,02br 00 Goes moaning and moaning along;02br 00 For an echo rolls out from the sides of the hills,02br 00 And he starts at a wonderful song—02br 00 At the sound of a wonderful song. 02br 00 And he sees, through the rents of the scattering fogs,02br 00 The corroboree warlike and grim,02br 00 And the lubra who sat by the fire on the logs,02br 00 To watch, like a mourner, for him—02br 00 Like a mother and mourner for him. 02br 00 Will he go in his sleep from these desolate lands,02br 00 Like a chief, to the rest of his race,02br 00 With the honey-voiced woman who beckons and stands,02br 00 And gleams like a dream in his face—02br 00 Like a marvellous dream in his face? 02br 02hr00 0-
