The key to the answer in a grammar test
The passage below comes from a test question as follows:

Correct the number which does not make sense in grammatical aspect.
The internet is one of the most remarkable things human beings ? have ever made. In terms of ? its impact on society, some would ? equate it with print and television, the two earlier technologies which ? transformed most the communications environment. Yet it is potentially more powerful than both because it harnesses the intellectual leverage which print gave to mankind without ? being hobbled by the one-to-many nature of broadcast television.
The answer is #4.
I also selected the answer, but my key to the answer is different with that to the answer sheet.
It says #4 should be corrected by putting 'most' before 'transformed' since 'most' is the adverb modifying the verb 'transform'.
I agree with this.
But my reason to the answer is different.
I thought #4 is the answer because after the pronoun 'most' the sentence needs 'of' to make the right sentence.
Do you agree with my line of thought?

"which transformed most of the communications environment" is also correct English. The meaning is slightly different though. Whether in this context it makes quite as much sense as "most transformed" may be debatable.

"which transformed most of the communications environment" is also correct English. The meaning is slightly different though. Whether in this context it makes quite as much sense as "most transformed" may be debatable.
