The Journey Of Life

My instructer asked me to write a whole essay about one of the short stories we read in this semester. He wanted from me to talk about the journey of the protagonist in the story. Also, he wanted from me to talk about the style, theme, charecter, and other elements in the story. I was hoping if someone could check what I wrote Emotion: smile

Thanks

The Journey of Life

Love is just a word until someone comes along and gives it meaning.” After reading the story of an hour by Kate Chopin, I reached many conclusions that made me amazed of Kate’s strong style. During the story, Kate made the reader be able to follow the journey of Mrs. Mallard, which was extremely gloomy and bizarre at the same time. Also, I was astonished by the plot and the characters rule in this story. It combined simplicity, suspense, and a since of humor. The end was tragic and in the same time irony.

The journey of Mrs. Mallard in this story was represented by the awaking of the feminine identity inside herself. Mrs. Mallard was suppressed from expressing her thoughts and emotions, which explains why she was sad at first, but after a deep thought she realized that she was free.” When she file:///C:/Users/ahmad%20hilal%203abqari/Desktop/School%20stuff/English/Writting%20about%20Literature.docx her slightly parted lips. She said it over and over under her breath: file:///C:/Users/ahmad%20hilal%203abqari/Desktop/School%20stuff/English/Writting%20about%20Literature.docx.” The journey shows us how sometimes societies reduced women roles and defines their roles to specific aspects, which control and restrict women’s experiences from fulfilling their dreams and desires. From the story we know that sometimes Louise loved her husband, Bentley, but sometimes she didn’t love. “And yet she had loved him--sometimes. Often she had not.”

The combination of the plot and characters in this story was unbelievably perfect. The plot put the reader in suspense mode and make him wants to know what will happen next. Mrs. Mallard has a heart a heart attack, so the other characters wanted to make sure to give her the tragic news without making the situation worse. Josephine, Louise sister, told the tragic news to Louise, who starts to cry and locked herself on her room. This part shows us how tragic is for someone to lose a loved one.

Then Louise starts gazing at the sky and listening to the wind hitting the trees, then she realized that she is free from any obligations. Louise was full of joy and happy. The second section of this story transferred the reader to a whole new idea, where the protagonist felt free since a very long time. At the same Bentley, Louise husband comes in. He hadn’t been in the train accident or even aware that one had happened. When the doctor arrived it was too late for Louise pronounces that Louise died of a heart attack brought on by happiness. The last section made the reader shocked and it was a little bit funny.

The theme of the story was signified when Louise discovered her true identity after she realized that she was free. The story style was simple and made a series of short paragraphs, which consist of only two or three sentences. Furthermore, the story covers only one hour in Louise Mallard’s life. From the moment she learns of her husband’s death to the moment he unexpectedly returns alive. Moreover, the characters were faced with a tragic situation, and in during the story they acted like how would people do in the real life. In the first half they were concerned about Louise situation, and at the end they were shocked when they saw Louise husband. The end is best described as a dramatically irony is that Josephine and Richard were worried about Louise heart condition when they told her the tragic news, but at the end Louise was found dead because of joy.
