The intonations of the words in bold type

Hi,

Can you listen to this short audio and tell me whether some words have correct intonations please?

The texts are:

eh, well, the college radio station will expand the broadcasting range, because this can attract* more students to apply for the communication program, besides, after this change...

*attract sounds like attruck to me.

I think the intonations of the words in bold type are odd to me. I'd like to know whether native speakers would use this kind of intonations here or in other contexts.

Thank you very much.

(I'm not sure if this speaker is you or someone else. ) This speaker emphasises certain words more extravagantly than would be typical of native speakers, and this is noticeable as a feature of his speech. However, the emphases are not too extreme, and they mostly fall in feasible places.

  • Funnily, the emphasis that seems least expected to me is one you have not highlighted, on "college".
  • It sounds as if he is contrasting "college radio station" with some other station (if he actually is intending such a contrast then the emphasis is OK).
