'the' in a business' name

Hi everybody

I've got a question about how to use 'the' in company names. The one I was thinking about is 'The Antique Furniture'. Is that a company name that makes sense, or should it be 'The Antique Furniture Company'?

My understanding is that in cases like this one, you use 'the' to turn a name of an ordinary thing into a company name. But do you have to add the 'company' bit or something similar to make it make sense?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts / suggestions.

Yes, you'll need to add 'Company' in order for it to make sense, Mike. However, you might consider that in the long run, 'the' adds little or nothing to a commercial name and just takes up space and adds problems in various advertising situations. If I were you, I'd come up with a name that did not require the article.
