The house belongs to myself.

I saw a sentence in my grammar book, it says:

The house belongs to myself.

I think "myself" is incorrect in this sentence. Shouldn't it be "me"? Is there any possiblity that we can use "myself" instead of "me" in that sentence? Could you give me your opinion? Thank you very much!

The word "myself" seems to be gaining in popularity recently, and it is very often misued.

Bad example: John and myself finished the race at the same time. [John and I]

Bad example: The audience gave a standing ovation to the choir and myself. [me]

Unless it is used for emphasis, it should be reserved for a true reflexive.

n.b. The reflexive or emphatic must have a point of reference, as the sentence you asked about does not.
