The historical present

Hi everybody,
I want to be sure about the historical present
we should use the historical present while summarizing a plot of a story.
so we should say " The wolf comes to the garden" rather than "The wold came to the garden"
Thanks in advance.

No, you needn't use it at all—it is merely an option which can create a feeling of immediacy for the listener.
