the hell with hockey?

In the TV series Friends, Joey is excited about watching hockey. So he says:"The **** with hockey! Let's all do that!"

Would you like to explain what this sentence exactly means? I also found the phrase "the **** with" hard to understand. Please say something about this.

It's no longer being broadcast in the U.S. except on the 'rerun channels', as far as I know. I've seen several episodes of the series, but I can't claim to be a 'regular'.
