The given chart illustrates the quantity of medals achieved by four distinct nations at six consecutive Olympic Games over a period of 20 years starting from 1988.Looking at the graph, it is witnessed that almost four separated countries, namely China, USA, Japan and Great Britain experienced an upward trend in the number of medals gained. Interestingly, the US achieved the highest number of medals compared to the three remaining nations throughout the given period. In the first year of the period, the number of medals gained by USA at six consecutive Olympic Games accounted for roughly 94, which was over threefold in comparison with the figure for China. Noticeably, in 2008, the number of medals won by the US reached a peak of 110 medals which was pretty higher than the figure for China with 100 medals.Turning to the two remaining countries, Japan was awarded the minority number of medals in 1988 with the figure being only 14 medals, whereas the figure for Great Britain occupied 24 medals. Similarly, in the final year of the period, the number of medals won by Great Britain and Japan saw similar trends _ both rose significantly with the respective figures being 47 and 25 medals.
