Hi there, I want to write something about ancestors. Is it okay to write "she was the granny of the granny of the granny etc."? Or should I say something different?

Its more usual to say "She was the great great (etc) grandmother of ..."

Thanks, but I'm looking for a fun way to explain this to children and wondered if it sounded okay to native speakers.
