The Granary

Hello everybody.

One balmy evening, the sun glowing low in the sky, my mother was wandering home from the beach along the marsh path towards a small row of houses on the other side of the creek. The square black Watch House was on the right, and near to it stood The Granary, a long low comfortable-looking house of soft red brick with a blue door and windows.

I can't figure out why the is capital and I know granary is a kind of storehouse, but why is it considered as a comfortable-looking house?
