The given statements are ungrammatical, aren’t they?

Isn’t it that the following statements are ungrammatical? (How easily my eyes got exhausted of reading the preposition to!)

The best that people could do right now is to be responsible enough to maintain proper hygiene and strive to achieve a more sensitive and healthy lifestyle. This would surely help in the control of Ebola outbreak.

If I were to revise it, it would be The best that people can do right now is to maintain proper hygiene and strive to achieve a more sensitive and healthy lifestyle. This would surely help in the control of Ebola outbreak. What do you think of my revision?
