the general use of 'in/on/at'

hello teachers,
i don't know when people use preposition, 'in/on/at'
such as in/on farm in/at this place on holiday on sunday in/on/at MSN and so on..

Many of the uses of prepositions have to be memorized together with their objects. There is often no logical principle to use for guidance, though there are some groupings of similar uses.

on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, ...
in January, February, March, ...
in 2005, 2006, 2007, ...
on vacation, on holiday, on a trip, on a mission, on an assignment,
at school, at work, at pl
