Here is an extract from a dialogue, actually in AmE. What does ''way'' mean in the following sentence? Is it used to emphasise degree?

CliveYes. More standard is ''... Both of these are much too accurate.''I would say both are equally standard (in AmE, at least) and way is just informal. The distinction between standard and non-standard English is quite different from that of formal and informal style.
