Hi! Can anybody tell me what is the meaning of the "fringe of Nirvana" at the following sentences? They are parts of Henderson the Rain king by Saul Bellow, and the narrator is speaking of a pink light on the a wall created by daybreak. The light that for the first time he saw it when he was still an innocent child and have longed for ever since, for all his life.
Gradually the light changed, as it was bound to do, but at least I had seen it again, like the fringe of the Nirvana, and I let it go without a struggle, hoping it would come again before another fifty years had passed.
