(The) Friday

Hi,
This is about let's say next week.
"If you work on Thursday, you'll get (the) Friday off."
I see both no article (Friday) in this situation and with the definite article (the Friday). There doesn't seem to be a rule. Is this optional?
"The Friday" is more specific maybe? Like "THAT Friday of that week". Does that make sense?
