The format of time

When I write down the time officially, do I suppose to write "6.30" or "6.30 pm" instead of "6:30" or "6:30pm"? Thank you for replying!

Not that I'm aware of. In what sense are you writing "officially", and why do you believe there is an "official" way to write time?

In a IELTS test, the answer about a time is "6.30" instead of "6:30". Therefore, I am wondering that is "6:30" a correct expression, I mean, in a official test?

Both 6.30 and 6:30 are almost universally accepted. neither is more 'correct', though some institutions may prefer one in their house style.
