"........on Friday, December 17th. The anniversary falls on the following Sunday."

What day will the anniversary fall on? the 19th or the 26th.

(2) we beat/defeat their team by 10 points

beat or defeat?

(3)It's not a question now that/whether man can land on the moon.

that or whether?

on Friday, December 17th. I take it as "the 19th". I think we can use both, but "beat" is more common and more colloquial.
