The floor

Hello!

I have a list of words:

a window

a door

a chair

a table

the floor

a carpet

Could you tell me please why 'floor' is used with the defiinite article. It's not a specific floor... All other words are used with 'a'. Can floor not be used with 'a'? And why if it can be used only with 'the'

Thank you!

"A floor" is of course possible in many contexts. However, if you are asked to write an essay about your house then "a floor" will not be likely used. The thing is , while a house typically has many windows, tables, carpets etc it only has one floor.
