I always thought that only the present perfect was right after "The first time".
I am currently watching A-typical (which is an American show)
The context is as follows:
The boy and his girlfriend come into the kitchen. The boy says: She waited for me at the bus stop. She talked the whole time. This is the first time she is not talking.
Shouldn't it be "this is the first time she's not talked"?
