"the first season of the year" / "the first season of a year"

Hello,

In an English-Chinese dictionary, an example sentence goes:
Spring is the first season of the year.

Can I change "the" to "a"?
Spring is the first season of a year.

Or, if I wanted to use "a year," I would have to change "of" to "in"?
Spring is the first season in a year.

I would like to have comments from native English speakers.

Best Regards,

Here in Canada, I'd be inclined to say that winter is the first season of the year. Emotion: smile
