Hi.
One of my Oxford reference series bears this sentence in the front-cover.

The essential resource from the first name in reference.


and in the advertising page, it says:

The first name - and the last word - in reference.

Could you please let me know what they mean?

The first name = the most famous/respected/prestigious name (company/publication/etc.)
The last word = the ultimate resource, the top decision-maker; the best, the most up-to-date
