The first mentioned words are the ones that he most likely used as a child

Hi all

I have written the following sentence: "the first mentioned words are the ones that he most likely used as a child"

I am just wondering whether to use the "that" in the sentece or not. It does not sound all that bad without "that", but it does however sound a bit informal. Am I correct in this?

Thanks!

You are correct in that. However, you should hyphenate 'first-mentioned'.
