The fire was raging out of the apartment.

Hi

Would you say both rage and blaze are correct? Any other better option?

The fire was raging/blazing out of the apartment.

Thanks,

Tom

Top answer

Mr. Tom out of the apartment. I have difficulty with this one.

  • Mr.
  • Tom out of the apartment.
  • I have difficulty with this one.
  • The 'raging' takes place because the fire wants to escape; raging being an applied emotion.
  • Blazing is what fires do, generally; no emotion expressed.

Thanks, wilpeter.

So, is this sentence totally natural?

The raging fire was bursting out of the apartment.

Yes. I might shorten it slightly to "bursting from the apartment." to emphasize the speed of activity.
