(The) financial compensation

Hi, are both okay:

"At least you got financial compensation".
"At least you got the financial compensation".

Both speakers know what compensation is being referred to.

I think either is correct, depending on the emphasis:

"At least you got financial compensation" -- at least you got something, doesn't matter what.
"At least you got the financial compensation" - at least you got the financial compensation that you received/that we know about it.

Right?
