The feel of Apollo's breath upon her neck

Daphne was an excellent runner, but Apollo was a powerful god. He kept behind her and steadily got closer and closer. When her strength began to fail, her panic was intensitied by the feel of Apollo's breath upon her neck.

Is it right to understand the bolded feel in the above as "the touch/sense?" If not, how should I understand it? Thanks.
