The empty stomach causes indigestion.

Hi

Is this sentence OK?

(Mother to her 10-year-old son who does not eat any breakfast...)

You must eat something before you get on the school bus. The empty stomach causes indigestion.

Or this?

You must eat something before you get on the school bus. Empty stomach causes indigestion.

Thanks,

Tom

No, where the article is concerned we would say " An empty stomach causes indigestion". However, it seems strange to me to say that an empty stomach can cause indigestion . Indigestion happens when we have eaten something that we are having problems digesting.
