The Distance

A very little distance:
often a few centimeters
is between us.
If someone at a distance
has a glimpse
he would be almost wrong, surmising
that we are together.
But someone knowing me
(I hope there is none)
may feel a great and wide tide
wrapping me from all directions
drowning me in the splash
not in the depth.
I always feared these distances.
These are like thorny bushes
making the boundaries'one can peep behind.
But to cross them
is death.
