The diffrence between situated/located and placed

Hi,

Can someone please tell me what's the diffrence between these three words situated/located and placed.

Situated and located are pretty much synonymous and are usually used of large immobile things like cities, museums and mountain ranges. Placed indicates that someone put them there, and it therefore suggests small things like sofas, scissors and ornamental shrubs.
