The difference of " recommend and suggest"

In the Restaurant.

A: I am quite new to this restaurant, could you please

1) recommend me some good food

2) suggest me some good food.

which one is correct?

In the company.

3) I suggest that he is a good candidate.

4) I recommend that he is a good candidate.

which one is correct? what is the differences between " suggest and recommend"

1) recommend me some good food -- Many people do use this "recommend someone something" form of words, but it feels grammatically slightly iffy to me. I probably use it in informal speech but I wouldn't in formal writing. To be more technically correct I would say "recommend some good food to me".
