THE DIFFERENCE BTW "FIX" AND " REPAIR "

Hi all,

Pls help to advise me what is the defference in using "Fix" and " Repair"

Exp: My bicycle was broken,I try to repair /fix it

Appreciate any instruction

"Repair" is more formal than "fix." You can use either, but "repair" gives your sentence a more formal quality.

To me, 'repair' is related to mechanical issues, and where as 'fix' is related to mechanical and non-mechanical issues.

Actually, good point, rishonly. When it comes to mechaqnical items, "repair" does lend a more formal quality. But while I can think of exceptions, "fix" can be applied to non-mechanical items
