The difference between those two....

Hello everyone,

Is it possible for one of you to tell me the difference between those two sentences:

“After he was fired.....“

“After he had been fired....“

I’m not sure if there is a difference at all. When would you use the one and when the other?

Thank you,

Alexander

“ This spells out the temporal relationship in detail. “ This is the usual substitute for the first one above. It doesn't give as much detail in the choice of tense, but the reader understands the time relationships from the word "after".
