The difference between race and ethinicity

I searched on wikipedia and it seems to suggest that ethinicity is more like a social construct which shares common linguistic, cultural, behavioral traits, while race is more physical, inherited and genetic.

In this case, does it mean races are more like: black, white, Asian, Hispanic; while ethnic groups are more like: Americans, Chinese, Africans?

I wonder if people really try to distinguish the two in daily life?
