The difference between present continuous and present simple

Hello everyone,

I am confused between present continuous and present simple.
For example, in present continuous sentence, I can use this " Listen carefully what languages are they speaking" I think this example is specially stressed by now. but vice versa, is " Listen carefully what language do they speak". As I know the present simple sentences are used which is general expression.
