So "a movie" can mean a place for play shows/theater?

By 'theater' blueblooded means 'movie theater'.

In BrE we call it a 'cinema'.

I think I got it.

"A movie" means a hall for a particular movie.
"The movies" mean the cinema in which there are several halls in each there is a movie on the ecran and you can choose which one to see.
