the difference between after a while and for a while

Hi.

I just found that "after a while" in the sentence. But I just remember one word which have the same meaning is "for a while".

Are these "for a while" and "after a while" having the same meaning?

"For a while" tells how much time passed. It expresses a period of time. "After a while" tells when something happens/happened.
