The diagram illustrates information regarding the natural course of salmon growth, from spawns to full-grown fish. Overall, the development entails various steps, beginning with the propagation and ending with mature salmon homing for their reproduction.

At the first stage of the process, a substantial number of pelagic eggs are laid in the river before being incubated and hatching into offspring. At this point of the cycle, the newly-hatching fish bears no resemblance to their mother. In the next stage, juvenile salmon undergo a slight change in size before reaching the river's estuary from the freshwater streams.

Following this, there are distinctively physical features in developing salmon when they transfer to the rearing areas in the ocean. The onset of the adult stage comes about/ commences when salmon are fully developed. In the last stage of the cycle, they swim upstream against strong currents to their breeding areas, recommencing their unique journey.
