The definite article + plural noun

I have a question about the definite article with plurals. A coworker tells me he has just got married. I congratulate him and tell him:
Well, show me the pictures!
I am referring to the pictures taken at the wedding. It is okay to use the definite article as shown above if no pictures have been mentioned before? To me the context makes it clear. it's the pictures at the wedding.
Alternative I could say:
Well, show me some pictures!
But I like 'the' better. Is it correct, yes?

Say whichever you want. I'd probably use "the" if it were me.
