The deepest position in this lake

Could you tell me how to use the definite article in the two pairs of sentences below? --

(A) This lake is deepest at this point.
(B) This lake is the deepest at this point.

(C) This is the deepest position in this lake.
(D) This is deepest position in this lake.

Q1 I know that (A) is correct English, but is (B) totally wrong? Or is it still acceptable?

Q2 I think that it is fine with (C), I don't think (D) is right. What do you think?
