The Cuddler

This painting by John Currin is called "The Cuddler". Can any one please explain why it should be titled like this? What does "cuddler" mean here?

This artist paints women in strange, upsetting, and provocative poses, in which the title of the work almost surely does not depict what is shown. Here the image is certainly not what one would consider a "cuddler," that is, you wouldn't want to cuddle with this strange-looking woman.

When words are used as titles of artistic works, they often don't mean anything that you can find in a dictionary. I think each person who experiences the painting will find a different meaning. Personally, I see the coat as the cuddler here, or perhaps the combination of the coat and that head garb.
