The comma

When you have a list (apples, oranges, and pears) is the last comma required to separate the last two items (oranges and pears)?

The logic behind this being that oranges and pears are two separate items that are not connected.

Hi, If you search the Forum for 'Oxford comma', you'll find a lot of discussion of this punctuation, some people against it and some supporting it. Personally, I never in my life even heard of the idea of putting a comma there until I found it discussed in this Forum. Best wishes, Clive
