The color gold has the most direct association with the traditional story

The color gold has the most direct association with/connection to the traditional story of Jesus' birth.

Do both of the underlined phrases fit in the above and convey a similar meaning? Thanks.

Good evening or morning to you!

And thanks, GG.

I see eye to eye with you, but the original uses "the most direction association with."

That was just a typo, right? It was really "The most direct association" (not direction?)

I would say "most directly associated with." None of them are wrong. It's just what sounds the most natural to any one person.

Yes, it's a typo.
